As St Timothy’s School grows and needs more teachers we have undertaken to support the training of local Nzara residents to complete University level teacher training in Uganda. The trainees sign a contract agreeing to work at St Timothy’s School for several years after qualifying and they teach at the school in their university holidays. The children in Nzara follow the established Ugandan curriculum and take the exams, which are transported up to Nzara from Kampala. This means their achievement is recognised widely as high quality.
Currently we are supporting two local adults and we are in contact with them often in Kampala. We receive all the details of their progress, payments and exam results each semester and have supplied them with laptops to support their studies. Salisbury Diocese have also been helping to fund their program. They are both doing well.
