Archbishop Samuel Peni of Western Equatoria, South Sudan, will be visiting the Pewsey Vale Team of Churches from 25 September 2026, spending four days with us across the benefice.  His visit is a rare and welcome opportunity to meet a church leader whose ministry has shaped the lives of thousands in one of the most challenging regions of the Anglican Communion.

Archbishop Samuel was formerly Bishop of Nzara and Yambio, where he played a central role in establishing The St Timothy Foundation — a charity dedicated to improving daily life for communities across the diocese.  The Foundation supports education, healthcare and, Microfinance projects to enable women to build a business, in an area still rebuilding after years of conflict and instability.  Its work continues to be a lifeline for families striving for safety, dignity, and hope.

During his time in the Pewsey Vale Team, Archbishop Samuel will be taking part in our Team celebration in St John’s Church, Pewsey at 10.30am on 27th September.  Samuel will visit the Men’s Breakfast in Pewsey on 26th September.  He will visit Pewsey Junior School on Monday 28 September and then the Rugby Club on Tuesday, 29th September for one of Robert de Berry’s lunch time meetings.  Samuel will be invited to meet and talk to attendees during these events.  His presence offers us all a chance to deepen our understanding of the global church and to strengthen the long-standing friendship between our benefice and the people of South Sudan.  If you lead a group or would just like to meet Samuel and cannot attend any of the above then do let Reverend Ann Massey know and she will do her best to include something in the schedule for you.
